Process

From bale to washed flake.

Six stages, from bale to packed flake.

  1. Loose post-consumer PET bottles before baling

    Collection

    Post-consumer PET bottles are collected and delivered to the plant.

  2. Wire-tied bales of PET bottles stacked outdoors

    Baling and sorting

    Bottles are pressed into bales and sorted by colour before they enter the line.

    Shredding

    Bales are opened and the bottles are shredded into flake.

    Washing

    Flake is washed hot or cold to remove labels, glue, caps and residues.

  5. 05

    Drying and sorting

    Washed flake is dried and passed through sorting to remove off-colour flake and foreign polymers.

  6. 06

    Packing

    Finished flake is packed in big bags and loaded for shipment.

After the flake.

Extrusion, pelletising, decontamination and solid-state polycondensation are downstream steps carried out by the converter.
